EDUCATION
Dr. Rey Romero MS, FACS, SNI completed his undergraduate degree at the UNAM School of Medicine in Mexico City, being part of the NUCE Group (Núcleo de Calidad Educativa) and earning recognition for having the 3 best grade point averages. He then completed his specialty in general surgery at the Tecnológico de Monterrey in Monterrey NL, Mexico. Finally, he completed 3 subspecialty courses, a Proctorship in Advanced Laparoscopy at the Texas Endosurgery Institute, San Antonio, Tx, United States; another Proctorship in Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery at the Bariatric Specialties Center in Monterrey, NL, Mexico; and finally a fellowship in Bariatric Surgery, Upper Digestive Tract, and Robotics at Baptist Health South Florida, Miami, Fl, United States.
EXPERIENCE
Dr. Rey FACS, SNI has performed over 2,000 laparoscopic procedures, is a general and gastrointestinal surgeon with a focus on obesity and metabolic surgery, minimally invasive surgery (scarless surgery), surgical treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease, and robotic surgery. Dr. Rey currently performs about 70 surgical procedures per month.
RESEARCH, PRESENTATIONS & RECOGNITIONS
Dr. Rey has given numerous presentations at national and international conferences, and has received several awards and recognitions. He is currently named MASTER SURGEON in bariatric and metabolic surgery. He has published more than 30 scientific research articles on obesity surgery, diabetes surgery and gastrointestinal surgery.
